Shawnee Lookout is well known for its historical Springhouse School and Log Cabin and Native American archaeological earthworks. The park's nature trails, including the 1.3-mile Blue Jacket, 2.0-mile Little Turtle and the 1.4-mile Miami Fort trail, offer spectacular views of the Ohio River and Great Miami River valleys. 4.3 miles of former golf cart paths are also open for everyone to bike, hike, roll or stroll. The park also features picnic areas, a playground and boat access to the Great Miami River.

Possibly one of the oldest buildings in Cincinnati, the 18th-century stone springhouse in Shawnee Lookout is where the 1786 Treaty of Fort Finney was signed. It was originally located near Ft. Finney (Northbend, Ohio) until it was obtained by Great Parks in the 1970.

Ulmansiek Wildlife Sanctuary is a 263-acre of seasonally flooded riparian habitat located along the Great Miami River. It is noted for the wide variety of migratory waterfowl that use it as a resting area. An additional 914 acres of wetlands are located adjacent to the park and is protected through conservation easements. The area provides valuable habitat for a variety of wildlife.
