The desire and open heart to support children and families are among the most important criteria for becoming a Foster or Adoptive Parent. The ability to act as a positive role model, parent, mentor, and supporter for children, while their families rebuild, is the foundation of Partnership Parenting.
Caregivers are expected to demonstrate maturity and stability during the temporary placement of a child while allowing the child to be protected and feel nurtured. They are able to assist each child with meeting his/her developmental goals and maintain family connections.
The journey to becoming an approved caregiver in the State of Georgia is the same whether you work with the Division or a Child Placing Agency.
